Is this actually hygienic, or am I just swapping one problem for another?
Fair question. The liner fully covers the base — food never touches the bowl itself. No residue, no biofilm, no bacteria building up between meals. It's actually more hygienic than washing a bowl by hand, which studies show rarely fully removes bacteria without a hot dishwasher cycle. Fresh liner every meal means a genuinely clean surface, every time.
What do I do with the liner if I can't compost it?
Just bin it. The bagasse liner is made from sugarcane byproduct and breaks down within 90 days, far faster than plastic in landfill. Composting is great if you have access to it — but we designed this for apartment life. Bin it, guilt-free.
Won't using a liner every meal get expensive?
